Des journalistes indiens s'étaient très tôt intéressés à l'attentat contre Charlie Hebdo

A la suite de mon précédent article relatif à un lecteur indien venu me féliciter à sa manière pour mes publications du 25 juillet 2016 à propos des Chinois de Belleville, dont certains pourraient être liés au trafic de fausses Nike de Saïd Kouachi, en relation avec mon Chinois de Thaïlande, je rappelle que des journalistes indiens s’étaient très tôt intéressés à l’attentat contre Charlie Hebdo du 7 janvier 2015 à Paris et avaient même diffusé un reportage où ils traitaient de l’étrange suicide du commissaire Helric Fredou dans la nuit du 7 au 8 janvier 2015 à Limoges alors qu’il était chargé de mission à propos de cet attentat.

J’avais moi-même évoqué ce suicide dès le 15 janvier 2015, et encore le 22 juin 2015.

Ce reportage était le fait du Daily News and Analysis, un journal indien fondé en 2005 à Bombay, également publié à Bangalore, dans le Sud, et dans plusieurs grandes villes du Nord-Ouest, dont Jaipur, la capitale du Rajasthan, à environ 250 km du lieu de connexion de mon lecteur d’hier.

Il avait été diffusé par la chaîne indienne associée Zee News, de Zee Media, filiale de Essel Group, basé à Bombay.

Le Daily News and Analysis (DNA) est un quotidien anglophone grand format lancé en 2005 en Inde. Il est publié à Bombay, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Bangalore et Indore par Diligent Media Corporation, une co-entreprise entre Zee Media et Dainik Bhaskar Group, et vise un lectorat jeune, de tendance progressiste. C’est le premier journal anglophone d’Inde à avoir proposé une première page entièrement en couleur.

Lancement

Le lancement du Daily News and Analysis en 2005 a été précédé par une grande campagne publicitaire, avec pour slogan « Speak up, it’s in your DNA » (littéralement : « Exprimez-vous, c’est dans votre ADN » – jeu de mots entre l’acronyme anglophone de l’Acide désoxyribonucléique et celui de journal). Les médias indiens ont décrit son contexte comme tumultueux, avec des réductions de coûts et une concurrence sévère^1,2.

Suppression des éditoriaux

A la une de son numéro du 1^er février 2010, son rédacteur en chef Aditya Sinha a annoncé que le DNA allait supprimer sa page d’opinions, la partie contenant les éditoriaux, les analyses et les points de vue³. Cette décision a été considérée comme audacieuse et a été accueillie par de nombreuses critiques^{[réf. souhaitée]}. Le DNA a donc commencé à proposer, quand c’était nécessaire, les points de vue d’experts et les commentaires dans les différentes pages du journal.

Diffusion

Selon le Media Research Users Council’s Indian Readership Survey (IRS), le lectorat total du DNA est de 1 242 000 personnes à Bombay, et le lectorat moyen de ses six éditions est de 824 000. IRS a classé le journal au sixième rang des dix principaux quotidiens anglophones d’Inde. Il s’agit du second grand-format en anglais le plus lu à Bombay. Depuis le rapport de l’IRS du deuxième semestre 2006, son lectorat moyen par numéro a augmenté de 86% (il était alors de 444 000).

Il a aussi le plus grand pourcentage de lecteurs de la tranche d’âge 30-49 ans parmi les journaux anglophones à Bombay (36,3 %)et le second plus grand pourcentage de lecteurs diplômés (52,2 %) ou appartenant aux classes socioéconomiques A et B^[Quoi ?] (73,5 %).

En février 2007, le DNA a annoncé que sa diffusion payante avait atteint 400 000 exemplaires à Bombay (après 300 000 en octobre 2006). Ces chiffres sont certifiés par Ernst & Young depuis mai 2006⁴. Selon leur rapport de juillet 2006, la diffusion payante du DNA était alors de 270 000 exemplaires.

Aujourd’hui, le DNA est le journal préféré d’1 506 000 lecteurs dans la seule Bombay (lectorat total au quatrième trimestre 2012 selon l’IRS).

Éditions et suppléments

Le DNA est actuellement publié à Bombay, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Bangalore et Indore. Il possède une section économique, DNA Money, et un supplément loisir, After Hrs.

Le DNA possède un site internet, www.dnaindia.com. Il est aussi présent sur les réseaux sociaux et sur téléphone mobile. L’édition du jour peut être lue en ligne (E-paper).

Marathon

Le DNA organise un marathon annuel à Bombay, le DNA I Can réservé aux femmes.

Zee News is an Indian news and current affairs channel founded in 1999 and is the flagship property of Zee Media Corporation company and a subsidiary of Essel Group.^[5] The channel is allegedly tried to extort 100 crores from the Jindal Group^[6][7][8] and allegedly fabricated video of Kanhaiya Kumar over 2016 JNU sedition controversy.^[9]

Allegations of Fabrications

Zee News reported that some of the students from Democratic Students’ Union (DSU) raised slogans such as « Bharat Ki Barbadi » (« Destruction of India ») and  » Pakistan Zindabad » (« long live Pakistan ») ^[14] In a letter Vishwa Deepak, who later resigned from the channel after expressing reservations over its ‘biased coverage’ alleged that « Our biases made us hear Bhartiya Court Zindabad as Pakistan Zindabad. » (« long live Indian courts » as « long live Pakistan. »).^{[9][note 1]} In response, Zee News Editor Sudhir Chaudhary said « Our channel only showed what was happening there, whatever we have shown is 100 per cent authentic.^[15] Later, the Zee News showed the raw footage of JNU campus to prove it was not a doctored tape and reiterated that the students indeed chanted Pakistan Zindabad slogans.^[17]


Another video, which showed a speech by JNU Students’ Union President Kanhaiya Kumar making anti-national slogans, appears to be doctored. According to India Today, « In the original video, Kanhaiya is asking to end social ills such as caste and communalism not anti national slogans. »^[18][19] A judicial enquiry into the matters revealed that 5 out of 7 videos were genuine.^[20]

On 14 February 2016, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh alleged that the JNU incident has the support of the LeT chief Hafiz Saeed.^[21] Doubts were soon expressed if this was tied to the discredited alert by Delhi Police that used a tweet from a fake/parody account.^[22]

Controversy

The channel is tried for allegedly extorting 100 crores from the Jindal Group^[6] and two senior journalist have been arrested so far.^[7][8] Naveen Jindal accused Zee News of trying to extort 100 crores from him for not airing stories against his company in Coal Scam. Zee News refuted the charges and made counter charges of Jindal offering them 25 crores to halt their investigations against Jindal Steel in the coal scam.^[23]

In December 2013, Arvind Kejriwal accused Zee News of showing the wrong information about his and Anna Hazare‘s relationship. Zee media banned Sonu Nigam after he shared a video that proved Dr. Kumar Vishwas voice about the farmer’s suicide in Aam Aadmi Party had Voice edited By Zee News to humiliated Dr. Kumar Vishwas image in public.^[24][25][26]
